AAHD and the Lakeshore Foundation have joined national MH and SUD organizations opposing HR 824. The legislation would allow establishment of Stand-Alone Telehealth-Only Health Plans, not subject to health insurance regulation, including the MHPAEA parity obligations. Such proposed plans could prohibit in-person services. The House Education and Manpower Committee has “reported” the legislation and the House Energy and Commerce Committee has included the legislation in its planned “mark-up.” We posted our opposition efforts on June 6. The June 20 letter, led by NAMI, Kennedy Forum, and APA-psychiatry, including AAHD and Lakeshore, is here: PDF.
