AAHD and the Lakeshore Foundation joined the Consortium for Constituents with Disabilities (CCD) opposing an Administration proposed rule to expand the scope of public benefits (known as “public charge”) to further limit such benefits to immigrants. Under federal law, the “public charge” test applies to certain foreign-born people who are entering the U.S. or attempting to gain lawful permanent resident status (LPR or green card), and it aims to identify people who are likely to rely on government support as their main source of support in the future. We also joined and posted an AAPD led coalition submission. The December 19 CCD letter is here: PDF.
