The American Association on Health and Disability is a cross-disability national non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring health equity for children and adults with disabilities through policy, research, education and dissemination. AAHD is the only national organization dedicated to integrating disability into the overall public health agenda to improve health equity, community inclusion, and accessibility. In 2026, AAHD is building our capacity to address strategic work in disability research and policy.

Thank you for supporting the American Association on Health and Disability by becoming a member!

AAHD membership is open to individuals and organizations working to advance health equity for people with disabilities across the country. Our members represent a diverse group of advocates, researchers and community members who are advancing health justice. All AAHD members receive digital access to the Disability and Health Journal and timely action alerts to engage on critical issues.

Our membership program provides additional benefits across a range of tiers:

  • Community Sustainers receive full access to critical healthcare and policy updates through AAHD’s newsletters, with the opportunity to opt-in to our Research Listserv for regular opportunities to participate in disability research.
  • Researchers are offered dissemination support for their disability and health research projects throughout the year, with outreach to AAHD’s Research Listserv.
  • Advocates are invited to participate in a quarterly policy webinar series, and monthly Public Policy roundtables.
  • Organizations can secure Disability & Health Journal access for up to 20 employees and get to participate in shaping AAHD’s annual Public Policy Agenda.
