We are proud to announce the recipients of the 2023-2024 Frederick J. Krause Scholarship on Health and Disability. Every year this award recognizes students with disabilities who are working to advance the broad field of disability and health.
Meet our 2024 Scholars
Rose Brown – Rose is a third-year Social and Personality Psychology PhD student at Cornell University. She aspires to secure a tenure-track position in organizational behavior, management and organizations, or a joint appointment in business and psychology at an R1 institution. Beyond academia, Rose is interested in consulting and is dedicated to philanthropy, continuing her efforts to support individuals facing homelessness and advocating for domestic violence survivors.
Dana Rubenstein – Dana Rubenstein, MHS is a graduating medical student at the Duke University School of Medicine. After obtaining her MD in May 2025, she will pursue residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in order to care for patients with physical disabilities. She aims to become a physician-scientist with research focused at the intersection of substance use and disability.
Kaley Graves – Kaley is currently pursuing her clinical doctorate in audiology at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign, with a focus on vestibular disorders, cochlear implants, hearing aids, ABRs, and pediatric audiology. She is finishing her fourth year externship at OSF St. Francis in Peoria. As a student, Kaley has been extremely passionate about advocacy and advancing the field of audiology as demonstrated by her involvement with the Student Academy of Audiology. She previously held the role of Member Relations Committee Chair on the National SAA Board of Directors. Post-graduation this spring, Kaley plans to work in a hospital or ENT clinic to help provide comprehensive care in audiology. She is also committed to expanding community outreach services and eventually aims to open a private practice in her hometown.
