Strategic Plan

In the summer of 2024, we started a year-long commitment to developing our first comprehensive Strategic Plan.

Letter from the Executive Director

After intensive visioning, deliberation and plain language translation, we are proud to release our Strategy Roadmap. Through our combined policy, research, and communications work, we are building channels to share information that can support better health for all people with disabilities.

Right now, our work to serve the disability community is more important than ever. In the face of a challenging funding and policy environment, our collaborative efforts are essential for supporting healthy communities. We know that strong disability data supports the research and policy decision-making that can improve health outcomes. We know that our advocacy is strongest when the disability community works together towards our common goals of respect, dignity, and independence. We know that presenting knowledge to the right people in accessible formats is an important step to ensure new information is put into practice. We know that this work towards disability inclusion involves all of us, and we want to help lead the way in showing how it can be done. Over the coming months, we will be building out new initiatives to direct our work towards health justice.

We want to thank La Piana Consulting for guiding us through this process with intentionality and a dedication to helping us bring our goals into practice. We also want to thank our entire AAHD Staff, Board, and the network of partners that provided critical insights into the planning process. Our work is strongest in collaboration with all of you.

In the years ahead, we hope to carry forward our mission in partnerships that can build momentum towards cross-disability inclusion and health equity.
