Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals’ Office for Citizens with Developmental Disabilities (OCDD)
OCDD provides assessments of people who request services to determine the person’s eligibility for system entry. Services include: the Individual and Family Support Program, which provides resources to people with developmental disabilities to allow them to live in their homes or with their families in their community and include respite care, personal assistance services, specialized clothing, dental and medical services not covered by other sources, equipments and supplies, communication services, crisis intervention, specialized nutrition, and family education; The Cash Subsidy Program, which provides a monthly stipend to families of eligible children with severe disabilities until the age of 18; Home and Community-Based Waiver Services, which offers a variety of services and supports to allow individuals to reside in community settings; the EarlySteps Program, Louisiana’s early intervention system for children with disabilities and developmental delays (from birth to three) and their families; seven Supports and Services Centers, which provide residential services with a variety of community-based supports and services; Transition Services, which are provided to people who live in a publicly-operated supports and services center and choose to move to a community living setting; Five Resource Centers, which increase the availability and capacity of support and services to people with developmental disabilities; and Community Support Teams, which provide support and services to people with developmental disabilities who need intensive treatment intervention.

Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals’ Preventive Health Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs (CYSHCN)
CYSHCN provides medical and family support services to Louisiana children with special health care needs and their families through a Hearing, Speech and Vision Program, Louisiana Birth Defects Monitoring Network, Parent Support Program, and CSHS specialty clinics in the areas of arthritis, audiology, cardiology, cleft lip and palate, cystic fibrosis, neurology, neurosurgery, ophthalmology, orthopedics, otology, reconstructive (plastic) surgery, scoliosis, spinal cord, and urology. Services provided include: health care services; medical tests and procedures; hospitalization; therapies; home health services; medical equipment and supplies; parent/family support services (parent liaisons); medications and special diets; nursing; nutrition and social services; care coordination, case management and resource development; and a cystic fibrosis program (for individuals over 21 years of age).

Blind /Visually Impaired Services may include: vocational guidance and career counseling; assessment of rehabilitation potential; physical and/or mental restoration; vocational and other training services; rehabilitation technology, including assistive technology services and devices and rehabilitation engineering; occupational tools and equipment; transportation to access other vocational rehabilitation services; job placement into suitable employment; orientation and Mobility training; and Randolph-Sheppard Business Enterprise.
