National Academies Final Report on Expanding the Behavioral Health Workforce – August 8 Release Briefing

August 8 webinar registration for the National Academies public report release webinar:
  • About 20% of all Americans live with a behavioral health condition, but only half of this population receives treatment—with direct consequences that include poor physical health outcomes, increased health care costs, and reduced quality of life and life span. Barriers to obtaining behavioral health treatment are most evident in populations using Medicare, Medicaid, and Marketplace insurance plans. Expanding behavioral health care provider participation in these programs can help respond to the critical need to enhance equitable access to vital behavioral health care services. A report by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine examines the current challenges in increasing the behavioral health care workforce capacity to better meet the needs of publicly insured populations and proposes strategies to address those challenges. At a public release webinar, members of the report authoring committee will discuss the report’s key messages and recommendations and answer audience questions.
